MIRO, Joan. Derriere le Miroir. No.
164/165: l'Oiseau Solaire, l'Oiseau Lunaire Etincelles. Folio, original
lithographic wrappers. $975.
Original issue of Derriere le
Miroir, with five color lithographs (including one tri-fold) by Miro. Derriere
le Miroir, one of the premier fine art magazines of the 20th century,
was first published by Aime Maeght in 1946. During its 36 year history,
the magazine showcased the talents of some of the finest contemporary
artists of the era including, among others, Miro, Picasso, Calder, Chagall,
and Braque. Because issues are often bound together or mined for the
lithographs, complete copies in original wrappers have become increasingly
rare. Outer corner of issue lightly creased; extremely clean throughout.
