Rare early work by Ansel Adams, illustrated with 12 Adams photographs

Twelve Camera Studies of the Allied Arts Guild by Ansel Adams

ADAMS, Ansel. Twelve Camera Studies of the Allied Arts Guild. [Menlo Park]: Allied Arts Guild, circa 1932. Oblong folio, original cream wrappers.  $1800.

First edition of this early study by Ansel Adams of the newly completed Allied Arts Guild in Menlo Park. The Spanish Colonial compound was designed by Gardner Dailey and Pedro Lemos for Delight and Garfield Merner as a workplace for artists and craftspeople and as a design consulting firm. Adams' photos (screened halftones) show the buildings, grounds, and finished interiors.  Laid-in as part of a folding promotional leaf is a beautiful copper half-tone reproduction of an Adams photo entitled "The Hands of the Potter." Light soiling to wrappers; crease to bottom corner of last 2 plates, an excellent copy. Rare.
